Nearly 700 people attended two recent RS Fiber community events to learn more about the new high-speed fiber-optic broadband network.
At the September 3 event, held at Hahn’s Dining and Lounge in Winthrop, Over 400 people from the Winthrop area enjoyed complementary hamburgers and brats while visiting with RS Fiber representatives to have their questions answered about services. They were also able to catch a glimpse of what life with fiber will look like with two large televisions were connected to the new RS Fiber network. One was streaming Netflix through a high-speed broadband connection, while the other played a High Definition video signal while both were connected to the new fiber network.
Nearly 300 people from Gaylord and surrounding areas attended a community event held September 10 at the American Legion in Gaylord.
Many took the opportunity to be among the first to sign up for the new broadband service which RS Fiber General Manager Toby Brummer says should be available this fall. “Right now our crews are burying fiber in Winthrop and near Gaylord, so we are on schedule to begin offering Video and Internet service sometime in October. Telephone services will be available by the end of the year. We are very excited to see that our enthusiasm for this beneficial project is shared by the community and area rural residents.”
The events also featured door prize drawings. At the Winthrop event, Barbra Pagel was the winner of the 43-inch LED TV; Joseph Zeigler took home an iPad Air; and Doug and Mary TenEyck won a cordless phone.
At the Gaylord event, Howard Armstrong was the winner of the 43-inch LED TV; Jim Stell was the winner of an iPad Air; and Jessica Uecker won a cordless phone.
