Earth Day is here!

It’s always encouraged to do your part on the daily by reducing the use of single-use plastic, picking up litter, enabling paperless billing on your various accounts (including your RS Fiber bill!), and more. But, this year, let’s focus on all our electronics. Strive to be more environmentally friendly by avoiding e-waste and taking care of your devices whether they’re old, new, or totally broken.

When it comes to e-waste, here are a few things to consider:

  • Try to make the electronics you currently have last as long as possible. Be gentle with your devices, use a case, and take security precautions.

  • Avoid getting the “next best thing.” Likely, the earbuds that you have are working just fine. Eliminate additional waste by veering away from short-lived electronic trends.

  • Donate your devices that have been collecting dust. Many schools, daycares, women’s shelters, and more, can benefit from your old and unused devices.

  • Recycle electronics that are broken or no longer usable. Minnesota has a recycling program, here is a link to participating collection sites: Minnesota Pollution Control Agency

We may go through hundreds of electronics in our lifetime, but we’ve only got one earth—so let’s take care of it!
